ESSE Adult Day Center to open soon in Aurora

ESSE Adult Day Services will soon be opening an adult day center at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 27 S. Edgelawn Drive in Aurora.

ESSE (which stands for Ecumenical Support Services for the Elderly Inc.) was started as an outreach program at the Faith Lutheran Church in Glen Ellyn by volunteers from local churches who were committed to providing day care for seniors. The program was intended to provide respite for caregivers and a meaningful way for their loved ones to spend their days. It was expanded to a second site at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wheaton in 1995 and to Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Wheaton (since moved to Community Baptist Church, Warrenville) in 2001.

The nonprofit offers weekday support for caregivers, including full and half-day options. They offer social, cognitive, and physical activities for older adults with cognitive and physical limitations in a nurturing environment with a nurse on staff.

They offer a continental breakfast, hot nutritious lunch, and afternoon snacks. Financial assistance is available
