Elgin Vineyard highlights hope for addiction recovery
Residents from Great Lakes Adult & Teen Challenge will make the drive from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Vineyard Church of Elgin this Sunday, Oct. 16, to bring testimonies of how God has been turning their lives around.
Teen Challenge is a faith-based program for men and women with life-controlling addictions. Originally founded in 1958 in Brooklyn, New York, by the Rev. David Wilkerson, this organization has helped many adults, both young and old, who struggle with drug or alcohol addiction to find hope in Christ and transform their lives.
"Teen Challenge offers one of the best solutions for addiction, statistically speaking, of any program out there," said Tom Severson, pastor of Elgin Vineyard. "I would encourage anyone who's dealing with addiction issues, personally or among their family or friends, to come and receive life-changing hope, encouragement and guidance. There is hope for lasting change!"
With more than 110 recovery centers across the United States and over 1,400 in 135 countries, Teen Challenge is the largest faith-based rehabilitation network in the world.
Recovery begins when an addict views life through God's lens. Participants learn to establish new boundaries and enjoy the freedom that comes from living within them.
The Teen Challenge bus will also be bringing a choir to Elgin Vineyard, located at 220 Division St.
The service begins at 10 a.m. Those who come early can grab a cup of coffee or tea, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
