Over 20 vendors featured at the annual 'Cottages in the Woods' Oct. 15-16

Travel through a wooded wonderland dressed in autumn splendor where gnomes and fairies hide out with dozens of talented artists and vendors during the annual "Cottages in the Woods" this weekend.

Tour the 19 Swedish stugas from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 15-16, in the historic Good Templar Park, 528 Eastside Drive in Geneva.

In addition to the Scandinavian arts of rosemaling, and dalamaling, visitors to the tiny cottages will find handmade items as well as vintage and collectible items, pottery, jewelry, watercolor, wood crafts, mittens, holiday crafts, natural makeup, books, home decor, and a bakery.

Nisse Nook will be selling Scandinavian imports. There will be Jule-Hus Scandinavian Gifts and upcycled bird feeders and nature-themed Christmas ornaments.

In one cottage, you will find the folk art of Rosemaling by the Illinois Norsk Rosemalers.

There will be three food trucks: The Pasta Box both days; Dave's Slow Food BBQ on Saturday; and Aunt Tina's Sound Bites (soul food) on Sunday. There's an old-fashioned bake sale for all those who love sweets. See how Krumkase, a Norwegian waffle cookie that's shaped like a cone, will be made throughout the weekend.

There also will be kids crafts and activities, with costumed fairies and gnomes roaming about. Kids are encouraged to dress in their very best fairy attire.

There is a $10 entry free for age 13 or older; free for age 12 or younger. For more on Cottages in the Park, visit www.facebook.com/goodtemplarpark.
