Laos to Your House comes to Elgin for one night only

With all of the diversity in the city of Chicago, one would think all types of cuisine would be common. But one couple noticed there was lacking Laotian food - and stepped in to fill that void.

When Stacy Seuamsothabandith craved food from her parent's home country, she had to travel to other cities.

After much contemplation, Stacy, her brother Chef Keo, and her husband Byron decided to test what they considered a "food project" to see if anyone would order this somewhat unknown cuisine in Chicago - and order Chicago did. Now, Stacy's brother Chef Keo has joined the team, and uses their mother's recipes to create traditional dishes from Laos, such as Laap, which is minced chicken or beef mixed with herbs, fish sauce, lime, chilis, and served on with sticky rice, lettuce, and cucumber. You can also try their take on a charcuterie board, called the "LAOcuterie Board," which has a variety of spicy sausage, brisket, wings, jerky, and spicy papaya. Vegetarian options are available as well.

Laos to Your House now cooks food every other Thursday, and has been met with critical acclaim - with mentions in the Chicago Tribune among others. And the city isn't the only place to get this delicious culinary newcomer delivered - DwellSocial is bringing the food out to Elgin on Thursday, Oct. 20, for one night only.
