Chicagoland's 'Wrestling Rabbi' debuts Halloween show

Fans of professional wrestling will now have a new competitive event to look forward to! 2econd Wrestling will perform its inaugural Halloween-themed show at Durty Nellie's, 180 N. Smith Street, Palatine, on Thursday, October 27 at 5:30 p.m. The recently established wrestling show, founded by Rabbi Jeremy Fine, boasts some of the best independent wrestlers in the world, with one-third of the performers being female and all coming from various professional backgrounds including school teachers, bartenders, clergy, chefs, high school prodigies, and even retired WWE wrestlers.

Providing more than just "a fight," the premise of 2econd Wrestling's competitions include a story arc, which are woven throughout the entire event and are written with even the youngest fan in mind. For example, one show follows the story of a wrestler that wants a shot at the championship belt, and highlights the trials and tribulations he faces as he fights for this opportunity. Rabbi Fine established 2econd Wrestling with the focus of developing a community that is centered on the sport, while providing family-friendly entertainment for all ages.

"My goal in creating this program was to make an impact on families by giving them an inexpensive and entertaining night out," Fine said. "We are working to develop enthusiasm for this sport that will hopefully get people off of their screens and motivate them to enjoy meaningful time out with their families."

A Rabbi for 12 years, Fine feels that members of the clergy should always strive to develop and embrace passions and interests outside of the profession. He says wrestling fulfills such a need for him, and hopes that patrons of his events discover the value of family time and a sense of community through these all-ages shows.
