Christ the Lord Church hosts hymn sings with Elgin churches

After a couple hymn sings in the summer, Christ the Lord Lutheran Church of Elgin saw the potential for more unity with other Elgin congregations by inviting them to come and share their own favorite hymns.

Music has such a wonderful way of showing us that there is much more that unites us than divides us.

On Sept. 25, First Presbyterian Church came and it was an hour of joyful song and learning.

On Sunday, Oct. 30, First Congregational Church of Elgin is scheduled to join in the singing at 6 p.m. at the church, 12N462 Tina Trail

In January, it will be St. Hugh's of Lincoln Episcopal Church, and in February, Highland Avenue Church of the Brethren.

The background of the hymns is explained before they are sung.

Following the hymn sing there is a social time for participants to become acquainted.

The hymn sings are open to all, whether you are a singer or not.
