Waucond girl, 9, named a finalist in International Junior Miss Pageant

Abbigail Hicks, 9, has qualified as an International Finalist for the International Junior Miss Pageant, which will be held the week of Thanksgiving at the Hyatt Regency Orlando.

Hicks will represent Illinois as the Prairie State Queen at the international event. The pageant is held for girls ages 4 through 24 across six different age divisions.

Hicks is a former Little Miss Wauconda (2020-2021) and is a student at Robert Crown School. Her activities include cheerleading and volunteering at Kamins Farm Sanctuary.

She also enjoys art, spreading kindness and love through her "Rocks of Love" platform and collecting donations for the local food pantry during her annual 12 Days of Giving event held every November.

Contestants will compete in three overall categories, including Evening Gown, Fun Fashion Modeling, and Interview.

The newly crowned International Junior Miss will receive the official crown and banner, a bouquet of roses, and up to a $5,000 cash scholarship. She will also enjoy a paid international travel opportunity during her year of reign in addition to many other prizes and opportunities.

Each year IJM awards thousands in cash and prizes to recognize and assist in the development of young ladies worldwide. All activities are age-appropriate and family-oriented.

Emphasis is placed on the importance of gaining self-confidence and learning new skills, such as setting and achieving personal goals.
