Letter: Incentives have to be considered
Just my opinion regarding possible taxes and Arlington Park: I definitely do not want to help the Bears pay for a new stadium, which they have indicated they are going to pay for. However, I also believe that no matter what goes into the Arlington Park space, whether it's the Chicago Bears or something else, the developer(s) are going to be looking for tax incentives, like it or not.
The worst thing that could happen to that space is nothing and it becomes an unkept, dilapidated eyesore that generates no revenue.
Many times, you have to invest money to make money. I grew up on a farm in Arlington Heights and have lived here my entire life. I have seen many, many changes and improvements throughout the years. Many of these wouldn't have happened without tax incentives, which ultimately resulted in Arlington Heights becoming the thriving community that it is.
I trust the AH mayor and village trustees will continue the long tradition of watching out for the good of Arlington Heights and its residents regarding the future of Arlington Park and its long-term effect on our community.
