Help Food for Greater Elgin raise $20,000 on Giving Tuesday Nov. 29

As you take time to consider all that you are thankful for this holiday season, consider making a gift to Food for Greater Elgin to lend a hand to someone in need.

On Giving Tuesday Nov. 29 will you make a gift to Food for Greater Elgin and be the reason a local family has a little more to be thankful for this year?

To donate, visit www.foodforgreaterelgin.org/givingtuesday/ or www.facebook.com/FoodforGreaterElgin/. Their goal is to raise $20,000.

Approximately 10.7% of Kane County children live with food insecurity, and 7.1% of the county's population is at risk of hunger.

For every $1 dollar donated to Food For Great Elgin, they can purchase up to $8 worth of food. Shoppers can visit the pantry once a week, and they always choose what goes in their cart.

A portion of your donation supports deliveries of food to area seniors and low-income neighborhoods where many people do not have access to grocery stores.

Half of the people Food for Greater Elgin serves are children or seniors.

With your help, the 501(c)3 nonprofit organization provided more than 104,000 people last year. Ninety-three percent of all funds raised support programming.
