Aurora's St. Mark's Lutheran Church hosts Advent music celebration
On Sunday, Dec. 18, St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 27 S Edgelawn Drive in Aurora, will hold a special Advent music celebration during the 10 a.m. service. Lion's Voice Choir will be presenting seven anthems, with narration, called the "O Antiphons."
At 4 p.m. Christmas Eve, the intergenerational service is geared toward families. Special musicians include children's choir, teen clarinet solo, teen brass duet, and teen bell choir. Candlelighting and singing "Silent Night" at the close make this a memorable event.
At 8 p.m., the traditional service of lessons and carols will be filled with anthems, vocal and handbell choirs, a string quartet, and a brass trio. The service culminates with a moving lighting of candles as everyone joins together singing "Silent Night."
The nursery facility is available at 4 and 8 p.m. but there will be no attendant.
The 8 p.m. service will be livestreamed on the St. Mark's YouTube channel (StMarksAurora) and will be available for watching any time later.
All are welcome. St. Mark's is a Reconciling in Christ church.
