Letter: Community-focused health care will continue
Community is everything. That is one of the most important lessons I've learned as president and CEO of Northwest Community Healthcare. For the past 10 years, it has been my privilege to serve NCH, the people of Arlington Heights and our surrounding communities in what has been the greatest experience of my professional career.
Now, after more than 33 years as a health care executive, I am retiring from NCH. I am incredibly grateful for all that we have been able to accomplish as both a health care provider and community partner.
Our commitment to community-connected care has only deepened since our founding in 1959. Despite many challenges, including an unforeseen pandemic, we've never wavered in our pledge to provide access to care for all - including the most vulnerable.
For that commitment, I must recognize and thank the more than 4,100 people who work at NCH, our physician partners, our board, our volunteers and our generous donors. Our team members and physicians never forget that what may be "just another day at work" for them could be one of the most difficult days ever for a patient, visitor or loved one.
At NCH, personal relationships and the humanity of health care are alive and well. That's why I am excited to share that I am leaving our organization in the capable, compassionate hands of Michael Hartke, whom I've worked with since starting at NCH. And, as a part of Northshore - Edward-Elmhurst Health, NCH remains a growing and vibrant member of the local community focused on helping everyone be their best.
Please know that the excellence and integrity you've come to expect at NCH will continue for years to come. Thank you for entrusting us with your care and for allowing me to be a part of this very special community.
