Letter: Restore death penalty
I agree with Lake County State's Attorney Eric Rinehart that gun violence is a decision and not a destiny. His solution, of course, is to infringe upon the rights of gun owners who have done absolutely nothing wrong.
I propose a different solution: restore the death penalty for certain crimes. I would think that someone who decides to buy a rifle, then decides to go on a rooftop and shoot as many bullets into a crowd as they can deserves to be executed. The same can be said of shooters in the inner city that drive down the street and spray a crowd of people with bullets killing and wounding many, some of which are children.
Those who decide to kill and maim innocent people deserve to be executed. If the justice system is broken or biased, then fix the system. Mr. Rinehart, you are in a position to do just that.
I am losing faith in a system that advocates curtailing my rights when I've done nothing wrong.
