Letter: Rosemont contractor and its golden parachute

Regarding the dissolution of Rosemont Exposition Services, which operated Rosemont's Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, there is something amiss.

Only in Illinois could a government contractor go out of business and dissolve with 12 years remaining on a contract and get paid millions while not holding up its end of the contract and not making the required pension plan payments.

Add in another $1.5 million to compensate the principals/owners for dissolving/going out of business and terminating the contract early. Talk about favorable contract terms.

But then, what is a few dollars among friends when it is other people's money - also known as taxes and fees.

This scenario would be flipped in private business. The company going out of business would be paying for terminating the contract early and would keep all obligations for any outstanding debts.
