The Grove in Glenview to hold 'Robert's Yukon Adventure Day'

A dog sled demonstration will be held as a family event at The Grove in Glenview, 1421 Milwaukee Ave.

It's part of "Robert's Yukon Adventure Day," 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21.

Naturalist Robert Kennicott grew up in what is now The Grove, and made trips in 1859 and 1865 to the Yukon. His exploration and the discoveries he made on his expeditions contributed to the United States purchasing the Alaskan Territory.

Dog-sledding teams from Adopt-a-Husky will be on hand, and people may try snow shoeing, learn about winter ecology and enjoy other snowy escapades at The Grove.

Tickets are $5 online or $7 at the door, with no cost for children under 2. For more information and a link to tickets, visit glenviewparks.org and select "events" for Robert's Yukon Adventure Day.
