Concert, art exhibit benefit Hands of Peace

"Utopia" is the theme of a free concert and art exhibit benefiting Hands of Peace at 3 p.m. March 12 at Glenview Community Church, 1000 Elm St.

Conducted by Guillermo Muñoz Küster, the eclectic musical selections will include the Beatles, Philip Glass and Jean Langlais, contemporary Jewish songs and Turkish folk music. The 90-minute concert will be followed by a reception, art demonstration and viewing of the art exhibition.

Artists include Nejla Akovali, Steve Grant, Frank Zirbel and Sophia Anastasiou-Wasik. Akovali will demonstrate the Turkish art of ebru, or paper marbling.

This is the ninth annual Hands of Peace benefit concert. Donations and art purchases support the Glenview-based organization that has led youth from the United States, Palestine and Israel to become agents of change for more than 20 years.
