Letter: The obstacle to 'freedom for all'

On Feb. 26, the Daily Herald ran an article from the Washington Post entitled "Republicans opposed to wokeism…"

The article points out that many Republicans have either an incomplete knowledge of the term or different interpretations of the meaning.

To me, the term "woke" simply means to tell the truth about American history and cultural happenings today.

The only way to make progress toward Ronald Reagan's "shining city upon a hill whose beacon light guides freedom-loving people everywhere" is for Red States and right-wing extremists to stop their efforts to implement legislation to whitewash racial institutionalism and to accept the truth about our history and cease efforts to restrict voting rights of racial minorities so we Americans can make this county one in which there truly is equality for all.
