Q: Why are you running for the library board, whether for reelection or election the first time? Is there a particular issue that motivates you?

A: I am excited to run for the library board because I believe I can make a meaningful contribution to my community. As a Certified Safety Professional with over a decade of experience helping companies meet their regulatory obligations, I possess skills that can benefit the board in managing the changes the library will see in the coming years. As someone who is passionate about ensuring access to diverse materials and resources, I hope to use my skills and passion to help shape the future of the library and ensure that it continues to meet the needs of the community it serves.

Q: Has your library seen a significant shift in the use of online materials? Has it adequately bolstered and promoted its online collection?

A: I have noticed a significant increase in the use of online materials at our library. As people increasingly rely on digital resources, it is essential that the library adequately bolsters and promotes its online collection. I believe that the library has done a good job in this regard, but there is always room for improvement. By continuing to expand and promote its online offerings, the library can ensure that it remains a valuable resources for our community.

Q: What do you see as the future of role of libraries in the electronic age? How well prepared is your library for meeting that role? What new steps must the library begin taking?

A: In the digital age, libraries have a unique opportunity to expand their offerings and reach a wider audience through the availability of digital materials. To meet this role, libraries must prioritize digital literacy and make sure their collections reflect the diverse needs and interests of their community. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of remote access to resources and services, and it is likely that this trend will continue in the future. To stay relevant and meet the evolving needs of library patrons, we must invest in new technologies and infrastructure to support remote access, as well as foster partnerships with other community organizations to provide a broader range of resources and services.

A: N/A

Q: Do you have a library card? How long have you had it? How often do you use it?

A: I have been a library cardholder since I was 7 years old. Over time, I have found myself using digital library services more frequently than checking out physical media. Nonetheless, I still value the opportunity to check out physical books and media from the library when I can.

Q: Describe your experience working in a group setting to determine policy. What is your style in such a setting to reach agreement? Explain how you think that will be effective in producing effective actions and decisions of your library board.

A: My experience as a Certified Safety Professional, my work with municipalities, and my volunteer experience has taught me the importance of working collaboratively to develop policies that balance competing needs. In group settings, I approach decision making with a focus on active listening, open communication, and respect for diverse perspectives. By fostering an environment where everyone's ideas are heard and valued, I believe we can build consensus and develop policies that are in the best interest of the community.
