Celebrate Earth Day at the Conservation Foundation's annual fundraiser
April is Earth Month, and a perfect time of year to bring together hundreds of people with a shared interest in conservation and sustainability in northeastern Illinois.
With the theme "A Tapestry of Nearby Nature," the Conservation Foundation's 2023 Earth Day Benefit Dinner is set for Thursday, April 27, from 5-9 p.m. at Bobak's Signature Events in Woodridge. The benefit helps raise vital funds needed for the organization's work to save local nature, protect the region's waterways and create connections with children and the environment.
"We have been hosting the Earth Day Benefit Dinner for more than 30 years," said Abby Beck, Vice President of Advancement for the Conservation Foundation. "This is a critical source of funding for our organization and supports each of our 11 program areas."
The elegant evening will feature hors d'oeuvres, an exquisite three-course dinner, an inspirational video and short program, an acclaimed silent auction, Wall of Wine and Liquor Pull and opportunities to learn more about supporting the foundation's mission.
"This event is a celebration," Beck said. "Earth Day is every day for those in the environmental field, and we need to be reminded to step back and celebrate the conservation community in northeast Illinois and all that we've been able to do together. It is inspiring to see 500 people all dedicated to open space, clean air and clean water and how we are all connected."
One of the region's oldest and largest nonprofit land and watershed conservation organizations, the Conservation Foundation is committed to preserving open space, protecting rivers and watersheds and promoting stewardship of the environment in Northeastern Illinois. The foundation primarily serves DuPage, Kane, Kendall and Will counties.
Generous sponsors of the Earth Day Benefit Dinner, including Gerald Subaru of Naperville, help ensure the foundation's impactful work continues.
"We could not put this event together without our sponsors," Beck said. "Their sponsorship makes the event possible, and their support of conservation helps propel a culture of conservation in Northeast Illinois. We're so grateful that corporations like Gerald value nature and are willing to help keep our communities healthy and strong through local conservation."
"We are honored to support such an important event and cause," said Donna Lawler, Vice President of the Gerald Auto Group. "The work done by the Conservation Foundation has a positive impact on our region and our future. We are honored to help the organization fulfill its mission to improve the health of local communities through environmental stewardship."
