April 11 deadline for St. Charles Kiwanis Rose Day orders

The St. Charles Kiwanis Club's Rose Day fundraiser will remain an outdoor event this year, but will return to its original weekday position - appropriately, Administrative Professionals Day, Wednesday April 26.

On that day, rose pickup will be from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the back parking lot of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1145 N. Fifth Ave. in St. Charles.

The day begins as Kiwanians unload a truck full of roses, which come from Colombia, and arrange them by color. Then, signs are made to mark the direction from Fifth Avenue, a route for vehicles in the parking lot is established, and carhops bring the roses directly to the car. Sorry, no roller skates.

Previous rose recipients have been contacted by club members since early March, but anyone can donate to the club by visiting kiwanisofstcharles.org.

Roses are available for a donation of $25 to the St. Charles Kiwanis Foundation, and must be prepaid by April 11. All proceeds will be used to support over 30 local organizations that help area children and families in need.

The St. Charles Kiwanis Club meets every Tuesday at noon at the Baker Memorial United Methodist Church, 307 Cedar Avenue in St. Charles. The club is always seeking service-minded people for its membership. For more information, visit the website or call (630) 272-1875.
