St. John's Artist Series wraps up with program on Julia Child

The 15th season of Artist Series presentations at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lombard concludes Sunday, April 30, with a presentation by noted author/actress/historian Leslie Goddard in the character of French chef Julia Child.

In the 1960s, thousands tuned in every week to watch Julia Child demonstrate the art of French cooking on television.

Actress and scholar Leslie Goddard brings the iconic French Chef to live in this portrayal, in which Child discusses everything from her relationship with her husband Paul Child to the mishaps of cooking live on television.

Goddard is an award-winning actress and scholar who has been portraying famous women and presenting history lectures for more than 10 years.

Her performance at St. John's will be her third, having previously appeared in the roles of Abigail Adams and Georgia O'Keefe as part of the church's Artist Series.

The community is invited to the program at 3 p.m. at the church, 215 S Lincoln St.

As with all Artist Series events at St. John's, no tickets will be sold for the program; a free-will offering will be appreciated.
