Man charged with firing gun in Round Lake neighborhood
A Round Lake man was charged with reckless discharge of a firearm in connection with a report of shots fired early Monday in a residential area of the village, police said.
Pelumi Rotimi-Ajayi, 22, also was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
Police responded to a report of shots fired about 1 a.m. on the 400 block of Savoy Drive, east of Cedar Lake Road and south of Route 120.
A resident heard gunshots and watched doorbell camera footage that showed someone walking and two flashes consistent with discharge from a firearm, police said.
Police said a shell casing was found in the area and a bullet was recovered from a second story wall in a nearby home.
No one was injured.
Rotimi-Ajayi was found walking near his home on a neighboring street in the subdivision, police said. Authorities said they recovered a Ruger 9 mm firearm.
The gunfire appeared to be random with no intended targets, according to police, and there was no further threat to the community.
Police said Rotimi-Ajayi had a valid Firearm Owners Identification card but not a valid concealed carry license. He was arrested without incident.
