St. Charles teen to participate in 49th annual Illinois High School Shrine Game

The 49th annual Illinois High School Shrine Football Game will be televised live on Mediacom's local programming channel, MC22, on Saturday, June 17, starting at 10:30 a.m.

The 2023 Illinois Shrine Game will be held at Illinois Wesleyan University's Tucci Stadium in Bloomington.

Pre-selected high school football players from across the state will kick off the game at 11:05 a.m. Saturday, June 17.

The process of selecting student-athletes brings honor and recognition to the players, their schools, and their communities.

The players were nominated by their high school coach and selected by the Illinois Football Coaches Association.

Local players that have invited to play include: Danny French of St. Charles, St. Francis High School in Wheaton; Aiden Johnson of Woodstock, Woodstock High School; Nate Komar of Spring Grove and Steven Siegel of Richmond, both from Richmond Burton High School.

The Illinois High School Shrine Game is a partnership between the Illinois Coaching Association and Illinois Shriners as a benefit for The Shriners Hospital for Children.

The hospitals provide specialty care for orthopedics, cleft lip and palate, burn care, and spinal cord injuries to children.

This year, Mediacom's MC22 will provide a live stream for anyone to view at watchmc22.vhx.tv. Mediacom video subscribers will be able to view the live coverage on television on MC22 CH. 22, 722, or 822. Replays of the game will be televised on MC22 throughout the month.
