Bail set at $2 million for Aurora man charged in fatal crash

Bail was set Monday at $2 million for an Aurora man charged with aggravated DUI in a deadly crash.

According to the DuPage County state's attorney's office. Joshua Crye, 32, of 1800 block of Westfield Drive, was drunk when he caused a three-car collision shortly before 9 p.m. April 6 on Eola Road.

One of the other drivers, 48-year-old Aurora resident Nicole Dickerson, died from her injuries four days later.

Authorities said Crye reached speeds of about 85 mph and his blood-alcohol concentration was more than twice the legal limit.

"The victim in this case, Nicole Dickerson, a loving mother and wife, was loved by many, and it is a tragedy that her life has now become a statistic due to the alleged actions of Mr. Crye," State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a news release, noting that the crash "could have been avoided had Mr. Crye simply called a cab, a ride-sharing service or a friend for a ride instead of thinking he was fine to drive."

Crye was taken into custody Monday. He would need to post $200,000 as bond to be freed pending trial.

His arraignment is scheduled for June 16.
