Maine South's 'The Addams Family' named best production in Illinois by Broadway in Chicago
Maine South High School's production of "The Addams Family" was named Best Production in the state of Illinois by Broadway in Chicago during the recent Illinois High School Music Theatre Awards.
Five schools were nominated from across the state and the award evaluates the best example of a high school musical in the state of Illinois.
Additionally, Maine South student Finley Pullano was named as a finalist in the Best Performance in an Actress Role, meaning she was among the top three performances in her category within the state.
As part of this honor, Finley was asked to sing the song from her nominated role in front of the audience during the ceremony.
"I am so, so deeply proud to accept this award on behalf of our entire production team, our administration and our entire school community," Maine South drama teacher Carrie Saurer said as part of her acceptance speech.
Emcee LeeAnn Trotter from NBC 5 Chicago presented the award to Maine South and said the play was one of the best student productions she had seen in a long time.
