Hey Nonny kicks off T-shirt design contest

Hey Nonny is calling all clever artists who like a good competition. The Arlington Heights music venue and bistro is hosting a contest to find the new design for its 2024 Nonny Club T-shirt. Nonny Club is a group of insiders who get first dibs on show tickets and a number of perks, including a members' T-shirt.

For the first three years, the Nonny Club shirt was designed by local art and music legend Jon Langford. The past two years' T-shirts were designed by Sarah Danielle Stewart, a Rockford tattoo artist.

"As a way to add value for our Nonny Club members, we release a new T-shirt design each year," said Hey Nonny co-owner Chip Brooks. "We thought it would be fun this year to turn the quest for a 2024 shirt design into a contest. We're eager to see what our community will produce, and we'e interested in whatever cool images or ideas people have."

First prize for the 2024 shirt design will be $500. A second prize of $200 will also be awarded. Details and the application are available at www.HeyNonny.com.

Nonny Club members get access to two members-only music events each year, free access to certain shows, first crack at tickets, a T-shirt, and other creative new perks Hey Nonny tests for its members. In the spring of 2022, and 2023, Hey Nonny took club members on a musical field trip to the Old Town School of Folk Music and the Jazz Showcase respectively.

"Our members are big music fans, so they really enjoy getting out to see music at every venue," said Brooks. "First and foremost, we are a community of people united by our love of music. We love feedback and input from our community, so this contest is another way to swing the doors open and get our fans involved."

The Nonny Club insiders pay $100 for the first family member and $50 for each additional family member. The 2024 memberships will be available starting in September. Buying a 2024 membership before Sept. 13, will get the member an invitation to the private Nonny Club event on Sept. 13, featuring glam rocker Gyasi.
