McHenry County College Epping Gallery features work by local artist Karl Jahnke

McHenry County College is hosting an exhibit by local artist Karl Jahnke through Sept. 15 in the Epping Gallery, located on the lower level of Building B, across from the MCC Store.

Jahnke is a self-taught full-time artist residing in Crystal Lake. His artistic explorations transcend conventional boundaries, spanning landscapes, still lives, portraits, animal paintings, and sculpture.

With a focus on careful realism, Jahnke invites viewers to connect intimately with his compositions, invoking a sense of familiarity. Simultaneously, he harnesses the power of painterly chaos to infuse his work with energy and emotion. Drawing inspiration from the every day, he celebrates the intricate details that define our existence.

Jahnke's paintings provide a respite, allowing viewers to pause, immerse themselves in his rich textures and colors, and reconnect with the depth and nuance of the world around them.

The art galleries at MCC are free and open to the public.

The college is at 8900 Route 14, Crystal Lake.
