Walgreens brings primary care to suburbs

ELK GROVE VILLAGE - Walgreens Boots Alliance and VillageMD have opened their first primary care location in the Chicago market at 641 Meacham Road in Elk Grove Village.

Village Medical at Walgreens is a primary care practice located alongside a Walgreens pharmacy location. The spacious practice includes eight exam rooms and on-site labs to offer full-service primary care, including the management of chronic conditions in addition to treating everyday illnesses and injuries, the two companies said in a news release.

Village Medical physicians and Walgreens pharmacists collaborate closely to fill prescriptions immediately following medical visits, at the same location if patients choose, and ensure patients have access to high-quality care and medical expertise.

Chicago-based VillageMD and Deerfield-based Walgreens have Village Medical at Walgreens locations in markets across the country. In addition to this Chicago-area location, practices are open in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Texas, Kentucky, Indiana, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Hampshire, Georgia and Rhode Island.

Village Medical at Walgreens practices accept a wide range of health insurance, including Medicaid and Medicare in participating markets. Patients may access care and support through in-person, at-home and telehealth visits.

"With Walgreens and VillageMD's combined expertise in pharmacy and primary care, patients have a convenient location in their community to get the right care, at the right time for positive, long-term health outcomes," said John Driscoll, executive vice president and president, U.S. Healthcare, Walgreens Boots Alliance.
