Black-owned dance academy in Aurora opens new location at Fox Valley Mall
August is National Black Business Month, and the City of Aurora celebrates this weekend one of its Black-owned businesses.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug.19, for the Dream Dance Academy to celebrate the grand opening of its new location at Fox Valley Mall.
Founded in 2010, Dream Dance is an award-winning dance school that trains students in ballet, contemporary, modern, jazz, tap, and hip-hop genres. Its new studios will provide more space for growth and development.
Founder and artistic director Char Petersen is a native Auroran and graduate of East Aurora High School and Columbia College Chicago who has danced and acted on stages worldwide.
