Carmel senior's to host blood drive for his Eagle Scout Project

In a display of community spirit and dedication, a rising senior at Carmel Catholic High School is taking the lead on an initiative that promises to save lives and make a lasting impact.

As part of his Eagle Scout Project, David Carnes, a member of Scout Troop 60, is organizing an American Red Cross blood drive. He's calling upon the generous hearts of the community to rally behind this vital cause.

The blood drive is set to take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 27, at the St. Joseph School gymnasium in Libertyville.

Carnes is on a mission to make this event a success and is reaching out to the community for support.

"This project holds a special place in my heart," David said. "Having witnessed the impact of cancer firsthand through my mother's journey, I've come to understand the profound importance of donated blood, especially for those who are actively battling cancer."

Statistics reveal that 25% of donated blood is used to support individuals fighting cancer. With this knowledge, David is striving to amplify the impact of his initiative and reach as many potential donors as possible.

To become a donor, community members are encouraged to register for a time slot as soon as possible. Visit redcrossblood.org/give.html/drive-results?zipSponsor=ScoutTroop60, or call (800) 733-27677 and use sponsor code: ScoutTroop60.
