Learn about 'Navigating the Senior Maze' Sept. 23 in Gilberts

On Saturday, Sept. 23, St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gilberts and Elderwerks are hosting a presentation on "Navigating the Senior Maze" with Carol Raso, a senior strategy director and senior adviser at the Palatine nonprofit. All seniors and adult children are invited.

It will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church, 18N377 Galligan Road.

This free, interactive presentation will provide information, resources and answers to senior questions and challenges. The focus is on being "pro-active as seniors vs. re-active as we age."

Attendees are encouraged to share questions and concerns for discussion.

Raso's career with a Fortune 500 Company focused as liaison between the customer and the company.

Approaching retirement, her husband was diagnosed with memory challenges progressing to Alzheimer's disease.

As the disease and health issues progressed, the importance of advance planning and knowledge became evident.

Lessons learned were through experience. The experience, education, relationships personal and professional have resulted in a "new" 10-year career assisting families, seniors, and professionals navigating the challenges of aging.
