5K run/walk on Sept. 16 to raise funds for American Brain Tumor Association

Dan's Fight Is Our Fight, a community-led 5K walk/run fundraiser, will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 16, at Peg Bond Center, 151 N. Island Ave. in Batavia.

On May 28, 2022, Dan Grzybek of St. Charles lost his battle with glioblastoma after undergoing brain surgery, chemotherapy and radiation after his April 2021 diagnosis. The 46-year-old left behind a wife and three young children.

Glioblastoma affects approximately 13,000 to 15,000 people each year in the U.S. It is the most aggressive type of tumor that occurs in the brain and is one of the most lethal forms of brain cancer. This rare form of cancer does not have as much research funding as others.

They will be raising funds for the American Brain Tumor Association. Help with the fundraising efforts by walking or donating to help find a cure or treatment for this devastating illness so no more families suffer this fate.

You may walk/run as an individual, create a team, or join a team.

Cost is $25 or $15 for high school students. Brain tumor survivors and kids under age 13 participate for free.
