New reading series featuring local authors begins Sept. 10 in Batavia

Water Street Writers, a new curated reading series featuring local authors, will debut Sunday, Sept. 10, in Batavia.

They will hold events featuring local authors from the Chicago suburbs on the first Sunday in the month of August, November, February, and May.

Four readers will perform their short works of prose and poetry. It is open to any genre and all kinds of performance.

Suggested donation is $5, with all of the evening's proceeds split among the featured readers. In addition to fine literary entertainment, you may purchase signed copies of the author's books.

The doors open at 5 p.m., with the event starting at 5:30 p.m. in the main gallery at Water Street Studios, 160 S. Water St. in Batavia. Beer and wine refreshments will be available from Water Street Studios's bar.

Water Street Studios has graciously donated the gallery space for use; all that they ask is that attendees respect the art and their space. In return, consider becoming members to support the nonprofit's special arts programming.

Inspired by Waterline Writers, Water Street Writers is dedicated to excellence and quality. Since its inception in 2012, Waterline Writers had earned its reputation as the premier reading series of the Fox Valley, something Water Street Writers hope to maintain in the years to come.

Water Street Writers events are sponsored by the Republic of Letters, a traveling local author bookstore whose table of contents will be available for your perusal.
