Parade kicks off Bloomingdale Septemberfest Sept. 9
On Saturday, Sept. 9, join Bloomingdale Septemberfest, the village's traditional end of the summer celebration.
The 49th annual daylong event has been held at the corner of Third and Franklin streets long before it was called Old Town.
The kickoff to Septemberfest starts with the parade which features various organizations in town, sports teams, scouts, dancing teams, other groups, and local businesses.
The parade will step off at 11 a.m. from Tee Lane, heading north to Schick Road, then proceeding west to end up in Old Town.
The fest, which opens at 11 a.m. and runs until 10 p.m., will feature a variety of food and drink vendors, crafters, local business booths, live entertainment, a Kiddie Carnival, and more.
After the parade, the opening ceremony begins at noon with Bloomingdale Mayor Franco Coladipietro welcoming the community and the Bloomingdale Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7539 raising the flag.
The Septemberfest Joe Draghi & Dominic Froio Scholarship recipients also will be honored during the event.
This scholarship fund has awarded thousands of dollars to young adults in the community. Following the scholarship award announcement will be the national anthem.
Community groups will be taking the stage starting with the Bloomingdale Park District at 12:20 p.m., Noteable Notes Music Academy at 12:30 p.m., Center Stage Dance at 1:15 p.m., Bloomingdale School of Music at 1:40 p.m., Robin's Dog Stars at 1:50 p.m., Synergy Dance at 2:35 p.m., and Lights, Camera, Dance School at 3:15 p.m.
Enjoy an evening with music with the Second Hand Soul Band performing Motown, Funk and Soul at 4 p.m., followed by the tribute band, The Boy Band Night at 6 p.m.
Hi Infidelity will close out the festival with that 1980s rock sound at 8 p.m.
The Kiddie Carnival with 5-7 rides suitable for youngsters will be set up in the parking lot next to the food and craft vendors. The rides will be open from 1 to 10 p.m.
