Lisle Heritage Society hosts 39th annual Depot Days Sept. 16-17

The Lisle Heritage Society's Lisle Depot Days returns for the 39th year on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 16-17.

There will be entertaining and educational historical demonstrations and activities that appeal to every demographic from noon to 5 p.m. at the Museums at Lisle Station Park, 921 School St., Lisle.

New this year will be the DuPage Amateur Radio Club.

They will recreate how station masters historically kept the rails safe. They will telegraph actual train movement information between the museum and the Naperville Metra station using Morse code, as well as lots of other engaging activities.

See historic demonstrations at the 17th Corps Civil War Field Hospital, or check out the large HO gauge model train layout.

Returning favorites include hand-led pony rides, a straw bale maze, blacksmithing, high wheel bicycles, beekeeping, warm treats baked in the beehive oven, and more.

Admission is free.

The annual event is presented by the Lisle Heritage Society in partnership with the Lisle Park District.
