Libertyville DAR Chapter Hosting Free Genealogy Workshops

Are you just starting out with researching your family roots, or are you only one document away from solving the puzzle of one of your ancestors?

The Ansel Brainerd Cook chapter (ABC) holds monthly genealogy workshops in the lower lever of the Cook Memorial Public Library located at 413 N. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.

The Ansel Brainerd Cook chapter is a partner/affiliate organization with the Cook Library. Their genealogy collection consists of over 2000 reference and circulating books. The library also has 10 online genealogy research databases. They are also a FamilySearch affiliate library.

The Cook Library puts out a monthly genealogy newsletter "ins & outs" and includes our DAR Workshop dates in the newsletter.

The ABC genealogy meetings are scheduled on Wednesdays; Oct. 4, 2023, Dec. 6, 2024, Feb. 7, 2024, March 6, 2024, May 1, 2024, June 5, 2024, July 3,2024 and Sept. 4, 2024; and on Saturdays; Nov. 4, 2023, Jan. 6, 2024, April 6, 2024 and Aug. 3, 2024.

No registration needed, stop on by with your genealogy trees and/or laptop for one-on-one research help.

The ABC chapter has several genealogists ready, willing and able to help anyone research their family tree. At the workshops participants will receive help and learn how to research their ancestry using the DAR database, and also will have additional recommendations for internet research.

The DAR is an all-women lineage service organization that can prove lineal descent to a patriot that supported the American Revolution.

The DAR is one of the most active service organizations. DAR members have committed to volunteer service having served more than 12.5 million hours in communities throughout the world. The ABC chapter last year recorded over 6821 volunteer service hours in the communities we work and live in.
