10th annual United Fall Fest on Sept. 16 supports Mutual Ground

United Fall Fest is celebrating its 10th year on Saturday, Sept. 16, with live music, a classic car show, barbecue, and fireworks.

The festival will be 3 to 10 p.m. at Congregational United Church of Christ, at Fox Mill Boulevard and La Fox Road in Campton Hills.

This year, all proceeds benefit Mutual Ground, a domestic violence and substance abuse shelter, and resource center for families in the Fox Valley area.

Barbecue

The United Fall Fest Pit Crew have pulled together a menu featuring something for everyone - from 16-hour pulled pork shoulder to 8-hour sliced-to-order beef brisket, as well as plenty of options off the grill and multiple choices of beer and wine for the adults and nonalcoholic soft drinks, water for all ages. All of the meat is cooked fresh on site. The dinners are served with coleslaw and baked beans.

New this year is a BBQ Taco after 7 p.m. with slow-smoked brisket or shredded pork, coleslaw and chipotle mayo.

Enjoy hamburgers, cheese burgers, veggie burgers, or hot dogs as well as a variety of ice cream, cotton candy and other sweets for the kids and adults.

Classic car show

Dozens of classic or vintage cars will be displayed on the grounds of the church. The car show, sponsored by Audi Exchange St. Charles, will be 3 to 7 p.m. As you walk through the line of four - wheeled beauties, vote on your top three cars.

Entry is only $10. The first 100 participants entered into the car show will receive a dash plaque.

Kids' Corner

The Kids' Corner from 3 to 7 p.m. includes inflatables, cotton candy and snow cones, fire department activities, and hay rides. There also will be a scavenger hunt from 4:30 to 5 p.m., and a helicopter landing between 5 and 5:15 p.m. Meet Koda, the Campton Hills police dog, from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. Join in an ice-cream eating contest, sponsored by Colonial Cafe, from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m.

Around dusk, watch Disney's live-action "The Little Mermaid" under the stars.

Music

Vintage Swing Band will be opening the music stage again this year, starting at 3 p.m.

This year there is also a free dance lesson with LUX Dance Studio. Get your dancing shoes on between 3 and 6 p.m.

The party band Run Forrest Run will play all things '90s, as well as the pop and R&B hits of today, from 7 to 10 p.m.

At the end of the night, there is even a grand finale fireworks.
