Naperville church to host Veterans Day breakfast Nov. 11
Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Naperville welcomes all veterans, their friends and families, and members of the community to a Veterans Day breakfast on Saturday, Nov. 11.
Retired Lt. Colonel Lynn Lowder, a Vietnam War veteran, will share reflections on lessons from his time serving in the U.S. Marine Corps and working as a veterans advocate. Born in Decatur, Illinois, and raised in the nearby town of Sullivan, Lowder, Lowder enlisted as a Marine Corps infantryman in September 1967. He became a Special Operations team leader with the 1st Force Reconnaissance Company in South Vietnam and was awarded the Silver Star Medal for valor, the Bronze Star Medal with Combat "V" and a Purple Heart for wounds received in action.
Following his years in active duty, Lowder co-founded the not-for-profit Veteran Business Project, which acts as a matchmaker to connect those seeking to acquire established businesses with business owners. He serves as a member of the U.S. Small Business Administration's Advisory Committee on Veterans Business Affairs and is a member of Naperville's American Legion Post 43 and VFW Post 3873.
Doors will open at 7:30 a.m. for the event, which takes place at 8 a.m. at Our Saviour's campus at 815 S. Washington St. in Naperville.
A hot breakfast featuring homemade casseroles will follow Lt. Colonel Lowder's remarks. The Chorus of DuPage also will perform.
