St. Charles History Museum named grand marshal for the 2023 Electric Christmas Parade

The St. Charles Business Alliance recently named the St. Charles History Museum as the grand marshal for the 2023 Electric Christmas Parade, in honor of the celebration of the museum's 90th anniversary.

The parade, sponsored by St. Charles Chrysler Dodge Jeep and Ram, will take place on Saturday, Nov. 25, in downtown St. Charles.

It is part of the St. Charles Holiday Homecoming Celebration, which is a two-day event that begins on Friday, Nov. 24, with the Lighting of the Lights Ceremony, sponsored by Solutions Networking.

The St. Charles History Museum is a nonprofit organization that is located in the 1928 McCornack Oil Company building downtown. This notable community resource is home to both permanent and temporary exhibits highlighting information about the city's past, as well as the Curious Fox Gift Shop. Prior to 2001, the St. Charles Historical Society museum was located in the St. Charles Municipal Building.

Currently, to highlight this 90th year milestone, they have a new exhibit "(Almost) Another Century of Progress: St. Charles and the 1933 World's Fair" that is open through the end of the year. This exhibit showcases St. Charles' involvement with the 1933 World's Fair while simultaneously celebrating the town's own centennial.

Museum president Steve Gibson talks about how excited they are to be this year's grand marshal.

"The St. Charles History Museum is honored to be chosen as grand marshal for the 2023 Electric Christmas Parade," said Gibson. "As we celebrate 90 years of serving this community, we're proud to continue our mission of collecting, preserving, and presenting the history of St. Charles. The support of this community is so important to the museum, and we can't thank you enough for all you do to make us successful!"

For individuals looking to support the St. Charles History Museum, they will be having their Holiday Gala fundraiser at the St. Charles Country Club on Friday, Dec. 8. This event is open to the public, and they are now accepting dinner reservations. Reservations for this fundraiser can be made at www.stcmuseum.org/events/2023/12/08/holidaygala2023

Seating for this event is limited.
