The Venue to show 'The Last Waltz' on Nov. 25

The Venue, a live music performance space in Aurora, will host a special screening of "The Last Waltz" on Nov. 25, the same day it was filmed - 47 years later.

As part of its offerings leading up to Giving Tuesday, The Venue will host a free movie night featuring "The Last Waltz," the last filmed concert of Canadian-American rock group The Band with several special guests including Joni Mitchell, Muddy Waters, Neil Young, and others.

"The Last Waltz," hailed as one of the greatest concert films ever, is celebrating the 45th anniversary of its film release this year. Directed by Martin Scorsese, the film was released in April 1978. It was filmed on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25, 1976.

There is no cost to attend the film screening, however guests are asked to register online at themusicvenue.org.

Also to celebrate Giving Tuesday, The Venue will host a special night with Pete Ellman Big Band on Tuesday, Nov. 28, to benefit Fox Valley Music Foundation, the nonprofit organization that funds the live music room.

The Venue, located at 21 S. Broadway in downtown Aurora, offers live music year round along with a wide selection of craft beer and other beverages at the bar which is open for all shows.
