Man gets 23 years in prison for child sex abuse, assault

A Bartlett man has been sentenced to 23 years in prison for sexual crimes against children.

Ronald C. Jurek, 25, was sentenced Dec. 22 to 18 years for two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, according to a spokesman for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Jurek also was sentenced to five years each on two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, to be served concurrently but consecutive to the sentences on the assault charges.

He will serve more than 15 years before being eligible for parole. He received credit for the 1¾ years he has been in the Cook County jail awaiting trial and sentencing.

In March 2022, Bartlett police arrested and charged Jurek on charges he sexually assaulted and abused multiple juvenile victims from 2013 to 2016.

Police said Jurek assaulted a victim younger than 9; used force or threat of force to assault a victim at least 9 but younger than 13; and sexually abused a victim younger than 9.

Jurek must register for life as a sex offender.
