Blackhawks vs. Sabres postponed until Thursday
The NHL announced that the Blackhawks at Sabres game scheduled for Wednesday would be played Thursday due to the snowstorm moving through Buffalo.
There was a travel advisory or travel ban across much of Buffalo and the surrounding counties. “The lake effect snow is bringing whiteout conditions making travel on some Western New York roadways nearly impossible,” reported WGRZ in Buffalo.
The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. Central Time start.
The Sabres are 5-3-0 in their last eight games, although their wins are over Montreal, Pittsburgh, Ottawa, Columbus and San Jose. Only the Penguins have a points percentage above .500.
The Hawks are coming off a 2-1 shootout victory Tuesday over San Jose. Boris Katchouk scored the game-winner in the ninth round of the shootout. The Hawks, 4-13-1 in their last 18 games, have scored just 1 goal in four straight games.
Zaitsev to IR:
The Hawks placed defenseman Nikita Zaitsev on injured reserve with an injured right knee and recalled Louis Crevier from Rockford. Zaitsev had appeared in 19 of the last 21 games after missing 16 of the first 23.
