Elections for conservation district board set for Feb. 8

The Kane DuPage Soil & Water Conservation District will hold voting for the 2024 board of directors on Thursday, Feb. 8, between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Owners and occupiers of land in Kane and DuPage counties are entitled to vote in the board election at the district office, 2315 Dean St., Suite 100, St. Charles.

Three director positions are up for election this year. The slate of candidates includes: Melinda Bossenga, Gerard Fabrizius, Tom Konen, Jera Piper, Tom Quinn, and David Schoenknecht.

The district’s mission is to support residents’ quality of life by leading efforts to ensure healthy soil, clean water, sustainable land developments, and regenerative agriculture.

Absentee voting will be available for those who cannot vote on election day at the district office from Jan. 29 through Feb. 6, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Absentee voters must certify the nature of their inability to vote on Feb. 8, and then cast their ballot, which will be held in a locked ballot box to be counted with the election day votes after polls close at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 8, 2024.

The candidate biographies, along with more details, are available at kanedupageswcd.org/kd/elections.
