What Republicans are really afraid of
Reading Larry Eichman’s letter of Jan. 2, I found, in writing for the first time, the real reason Republicans are worried about Biden’s age. In case you missed it, it said, “As for Biden, he scares me perhaps mostly because of his growing signs of age and who replaces him if he dies in office.”
There you have it. They fear Vice President Kamala Harris, a woman of color, becoming president. Her qualifications don’t even enter into it.
Let’s not overlook the fact that Trump will base his VP choice not on qualifications but on who will pledge absolute loyalty while best serving Trump’s agenda. In that case, we’d conceivably have two people at the top who are clueless about what leadership looks like.
Now let me address the Republican propaganda machine. Per Trump on June 7, 2021, and repeated over and over by his echo chamber, immigrants are “rapists and murderers and drug dealers.” Actually, the vast majority of those oppressed folks are poor-as-church-mice, devout Catholics.
I’ll say this again, how is it that our supposedly Christian country finds it so easy to turn its back on the poorest of the poor and the teachings of Christ?
