Elgin Symphony to re-create a little Hollywood magic with concerts on Feb. 3-4
Elgin Symphony Orchestra will be featuring musical moments from Hollywood's biggest movies in “The Magic of Hollywood.”
Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, at Hemmens Cultural Center, 45 Symphony Way in downtown Elgin.
The orchestra, led by conductor Chad Goodman, will perform music from “Lord of the Rings,” “E.T.,” “Star Wars,” “Cinema Paradiso,” and music from the “Harry Potter” series.
The 2023-24 season marks Goodman’s inaugural season as music director of the Elgin Symphony Orchestra — only the fifth leader in the orchestra’s prestigious seven-decade history.
Upcoming concerts include concertmaster and violinist Isabella Lippi performing Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 4 and Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 5 on March 2-3; Schumann’s Piano Concerto with pianist Orli Shaham on April 6-7; and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 and the Elgin Master Chorale on May 4-5.
Tickets are $20-$55 with student tickets for $10. Youth, age 17 or younger, are admitted free with a paid adult.
