Party vs. the people
No matter what your political affiliation, consider this: When a political party in governmental office refuses to pass legislation that would help alleviate an immigration crisis, they are no longer working for the people who elected them. They were elected to work for us, to pass legislation that would be beneficial to all the people, and not to reject legislation simply because it might reduce the chances of their top presidential candidate from winning an election.
