Officials: No injuries reported in Warrenville fire

Warrenville firefighters responded to a 911 call reporting a small fire behind a detached garage on Sunday afternoon, officials said.

The fire started in a small patch of grass in the 3S200 block of Patterman Road. It quickly reached the detached garage, prompting additional fire response from the district. Two additional engines, ladder trucks, and ambulances were sent to the scene, along one rescue squad and four chief officers.

The first responding fire unit arrived within five minutes of the call. It contained the fire by stretching a hose pouring down water to the back of the garage. Another home south of the burning garage was also damaged due to heat and smoke from the extending fire. Both structure fires were quickly contained, authorities said in a news release.

Officials found both homes to be habitable following an investigation and turned them back to the homeowners. No firefighters or residents were injured in the process.

Warrenville Fire Protection District was assisted by the Winfield and West Chicago Fire Protection Districts, and Wheaton and Naperville Fire Departments.

The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental in nature, fire investigators said.
