Rolling Meadows city manager gets 2-year contract extension and raise
Fresh off receiving a $25,000 performance bonus, Rolling Meadows City Manager Rob Sabo got a $5,000 raise and a two-year contract extension.
An amendment to his employment agreement took effect March 1, which put Sabo’s annual salary at $215,000 and extended his contract term from February 2027 to February 2029.
In a resolution unanimously approved by the mayor and aldermen last week, the city council determined after Sabo’s annual review that he “excels in his job performance and provides the city with a valued service.” Officials said they also analyzed the compensation paid to municipal managers throughout the state and determined Sabo’s salary should be in line with that of leaders of comparable municipalities.
Under the new agreement, Sabo will be eligible for bonuses of up to $35,000 every March following an annual closed-session review and successful completion of goals.
Following this year’s evaluation, the council on Jan. 30 awarded Sabo a $25,000 bonus.
He also will be eligible for the same raises given to non-unionized city employees through 2025, according to the agreement.
Aldermen said they will evaluate Sabo’s annual salary again in January 2026, with any additional contract amendments to come in March 2026.
Sabo took the helm at city hall in January 2022, initially, as a $170,000-a-year, at-will employee, until inking his first contract with the council a year ago.
