Is comparison really outrageous?

A letter from a Mr. Thomas Gavin of Naperville chided the Daily Herald for reporting an AP article that compared Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler. Is it really that outrageous?

Both Donald Trump and Adolf Hitler demonized and labeled groups and ethnicities. We all know what Adolf Hitler did to Jewish people. Don’t forget what Donald Trump said about “ban all Muslims.“ Don’t forget what he said about Mexicans that they are “drug dealers and rapist and murderers.” Don’t forget what he said about immigrants poisoning the blood of our country. And don’t forget how that compares to Adolf Hitler’s idea about Aryan superiority.

Both Donald Trump and Adolf Hitler have maniacal egos and a lust for power that is unchecked. When Donald Trump came back from North Korea speaking about the North Korean president he said over there when his name is mentioned people jump to attention. And Donald Trump said “that’s what I would like to see here.“ He wasn’t kidding.

Adolf Hitler institutionalized Nazi propaganda. He basically abolished the free press and Donald Trump said that the press is the enemy of the people.

Both of these men call for hatred and retribution.

If reelected, Donald Trump will do everything he can to put his own cronies into positions of power so he can control them. Forget about quality as a factor. What he wants is people who will do as well. For example, that is why he appointed of all people and neural radiologist to be in charge of the Covid program when Dr. Fauci and Dr. Brix would not comply to his political agenda.

Both the current Pope Francis and the Dalai Lama have said Trump is not a Christian and not a moral man.

No one can be as evil as Adolf Hitler. At least I hope not. However, there are breaking similarities between Adolf Hitler and Donald Trump. I think the comparison is valid.
