Join Schaumburg Library for a forest therapy walk featuring nature-themed poetry
Schaumburg Township District Library invites you for a forest therapy walk with the poetry of Mary Oliver with Poetry in the Forest on Friday, April 12.
Join Schaumburg Library for some poetry in motion. Explore the forest through your senses while using one of the most inspiring nature based poetesses, Mary Oliver, to guide you with her words. To begin, you’ll receive copies of the poems along with journals to write or draw your reflections during the walk. The walk will end with a tea ceremony and poetry reading.
Navraaz Kaur Basati will guide this forest therapy walk. Basati is a certified Horticultural Therapist, Forest Therapy Guide and Yogi located in the Chicago area. With an extensive background in conservation, regenerative gardening, restoration and therapeutic practices, she provides a unique perspective to the guided walks that incorporates sensory work along with biophilic elements.
Schaumburg Library’s Forest Therapy Walk will take place from 10-11:30 a.m. on Friday, April 12, at Spring Valley Nature Center, 1111 E. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg.
