Water quality grant awardees announced

Four projects that will help improve the quality of streams and rivers are getting funding from the DuPage County stormwater management planning committee.

The committee recently awarded the water quality improvement program grants, totaling $310,000. The projects selected include improvements to the Borse Park stream and pond in Willowbrook, bank stabilization at Klein Creek in Carol Stream, shoreline stabilization at Lake Becerra in Glendale Heights and permeable pavers at community garden plots in Naperville.

“All of these projects will not only improve water quality, they will also greatly improve the aesthetics of their surroundings,” said Jim Zay, who heads the DuPage County stormwater management committee. “Beautiful, high-quality streams and ponds invite DuPage County residents to appreciate our natural resources and take action to protect them.”
